We Exist To Help People Know Jesus

First Christian Church of Yucca Valley church family

Our story

FCCYV had its beginnings all the way back to the ministry of Jesus. He told Peter in Matthew 16:18b, “…I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” We are Christ’s church and it’s only because of Him that we exist. Our specific church was birthed in the hearts and minds of several people in 1961 that had a strong desire to see a church planted in Yucca Valley. Our first minister, Roy Rousch, told a newspaper a few years after the church started that his heart was to see our church reach young people: “Anybody who says he understands our teenagers is either ignorant or he lies. We don’t understand them — they don’t understand themselves … I get in trouble sometimes. Some of the ministers accuse me of associating with sinners too much. But I don’t know how you’re going to help them if you don’t associate with them.”

In the years since, FCCYV has continued this vision of reaching Yucca Valley for Jesus. We are driven by selfless leaders, volunteers, and new people to the faith. If you want a church where you hear the Bible preached passionately, where people can worship in spirit and truth and where you'll be accepted no matter your religious background or life choices, come check us out.

“I hope that all who come to our church will experience Christ’s love in new and profound ways. We are a church that is open and honest with all, willing to answer any question you might have about God, the Bible and what it means to accept Christ.”

How should I dress?

In whatever makes you comfortable! Some like sweatpants or shorts. Others prefer jeans and a t-shirt. You'll be hard-pressed to find a tie but if that's what you're comfortable with, no one will bat an eye.

What's your denominational background?

We have none! We have roots that stretch back to something known as the Restoration Movement, but you'll find a wide spectrum of denominational backgrounds here.
